HONEY SALT || Farm-to-Table Inspired Comfort Food

It was the first morning, first shift of the new Honey Salt Vancouver location. The $700-million, 70,000 square-feet urban resort Parq Vancouver is flanked by two upscale hotels, the Douglas and JW Mariott. Honey Salt is located on the first floor of the new JW Marriott hotel, and is the first collaborative venture for renowned restaurateur Elizabeth Blau and her husband, award-winning Chef Kim Canteenwalla.

The front desk and signage exudes an upscale, yet comfortable eatery, where one would gather a few friends for a breakfast, lunch or brunch date.

Honey Salt Parq Vancouver Lounge

Inside the restaurant is sectioned into three areas, the first is a lounge where comfortable sofas line the walls. The second is the extended bar separating the lounge and dining area, where large flatscreen TVs are broadcasting the latest games (of interest to visiting guests at the hotel hoping to catch the latest sports action), and the third would be the dining area, where booths and tables are neatly arranged in the airy space. The interior design utilizes a green, white and gold colour palette, complemented by the wooden tables to provide texture to the furnishings, creating an upscale yet welcoming atmosphere.

We were quickly seated and skimmed through the large selection of smoothies and juices, settling on an Acai juice, Banana Maple Cream Cheese French Toast and Smoked Salmon Board.

The Banana French Toast was crispy on the outside and stuffed with maple cream cheese and banana - who can resist a sweet treat to start the day?

The Smoked Salmon Board arrived and appeared to be a deconstructed smoked salmon bagel. We had ordered it to share, so spent some time piling on the cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers and smoked egg onto the bagel to create a bagel suited to our individual taste.

Overall a light, tasty brunch, saving us room for a proper lunch in the afternoon. We enjoyed the ambiance, with large windows all around inviting light into the dining space. We predict Honey Salt at Parq Vancouver will become a favourite for socialites in the city.

As the location is conveniently located across the street from our place of residence, it is likely we will find ourselves returning to enjoy other items off the scrumptious menu.
