CHEFS PLATE || Celebrate Lunar New Year with This Festive Dish

Do you know what people usually eat during Lunar New Year to celebrate?

As with how other cultural holidays are celebrated with unique and festive dishes, Lunar New Year also has its own selection of dishes that signify a prosperous and healthy year ahead. To welcome the Year of the Ox, Chefs Plate has to create a festive dish, Chicken & Shrimp Chow Mein with chili-garlic oil, so you can enjoy delicious home cooking at home instead of heading out for a large family dinner.

Since family gatherings are limited to a single household, it wouldn’t be possible for you to bring everyone together to celebrate, which is the usual custom; with this dish from Chefs Plate, you can spice up your Lunar New Year meal with this as a special added course.

Did you know that eating noodles in Chinese culture signifies longevity? Not only do they eat noodles during Lunar New Year, but it’s also a tradition to eat noodles on your birthday so you can enjoy a long and healthy life. We are fascinated with these cultural traditions and couldn’t wait to try this special rendition from Chefs Plate.

This hearty dish comprised of delicious Chinese flavours, combines chicken, shrimp, and mushrooms in an umami-packed noodle bowl. A drizzle of chili-garlic oil finishes off the recipe. In many Asian countries, people eat long noodles during Lunar New Year for longevity. One catch: You can't break the noodle from your plate to your mouth.

The meal kit comes neatly packaged in a box and paper bags to portion out your meals

Although meal kits have become increasingly popular especially since everyone has been staying at home, this is actually our first experience with a meal kit delivered to our home. We liked that the ingredients are measured out to exactly the right portion so you don’t waste anything and you don’t need to buy an entire jar of seasoning or herbs to cook one dish.

Each portion has the exactly amount of ingredients you need to minimize wastage

The instructions that come with the box were easy to follow and consist of only 8 steps (with visual guides) to make this festive dish. Even if you have very little experience in the kitchen, this is something you can easily master!

This special Lunar New Year dish is available to order until February 3, so make sure you get your orders in on time so you can receive this unique menu item! Visit the Chefs Plate website to find out more about their meal kit options and to sign up.
