MELO PATISSERIE || French-Inspired Neighborhood Spot in Mount Pleasant for Delightful Pastries
It’s always a pleasant surprise to stumble upon a neighborhood gem. Melo Patisserie is like chancing upon a secret garden in a forest.
Colorful florals drape from the ceiling, and each table also has its own vibrant floral arrangement. The interior features a nautical theme, with a calming navy, contrasted against white walls with gold accents. Numerous stuffed bunnies line the walls and shelves, adding a cute and whimsical touch. Outside, the cafe's two elegant garden tables allow guests to enjoy their coffee and cakes in the open.
We had stopped by late in the afternoon, but as we settled in to enjoy our cake and lattes, we saw regulars popping in to grab croissants and cookies for next day’s breakfast. We love the sense of community when shops see their regulars and are able to greet customers by name and remember their usual orders.
As it was our first time stopping by, we opted to try the duo-toned Mount Coffee Cake. I would describe this as a twist on the flavours of a classic tiramisu. You get a very slight bittersweet taste of the powdered chocolate on the exterior, and then cut through to a dreamy and creamy mousse texture. The decadent pastry combines texture and flavour and tastes even more delicious with a coffee.
The foamy cappuccino is served in lovely cups stamped with the Melo Patisseries logo. Set beside the blooming flowers on the table, it’s the perfect photo op. Wouldn’t you agree?
The shop also carries various packaged provisions for you to take home, such as coffee beans, jams, and biscotti. If you like to make your own fresh coffee at home, the chocolate biscotti would be a nice touch to complete the experience.
We are so glad to have found this neighborhood gem, and we hope you are able to pay them a visit to try their cakes. Locally owned shops like this cafe need our support now more than ever, and who wouldn’t want to treat themselves to these tasty delights?
