If you are a coffee lover – or tea obsessed like myself – you would enjoy the variety of beautiful cafes in Tokyo. One the most scenic spot we discovered in the city was La Kagu, a conceptive space designed by architect Kengo Kuma.

The inside of the warehouse revealed its gleaming, pristine interior. The first floor was spacious, with a café on the left and a retail selection to the right. Other than serving hot and cold drinks, La Kagu also has a few food choices on the menu. Many locals enjoyed their drinks and snacks at the communal wooden tables. The design of the menu itself was also delightful, decorated by hand-drawn illustrations.

The retail section was not short of designer labels, as we found pieces by Acne Studios, Marni and Maison Martin Margiela. Other than the large fashion houses, we also discovered collections from independent designers and street wear brands. The main floor only had clothing for women, so the sales associate directed us upstairs for their menswear.

The second floor consisted of men’s clothing, vintage products, home decor and a large library of books. There were rows of chairs on one end of the space – intended for possible seminars, but also served as a good reading space. The unique-ness of its beautiful interior and the tranquility of its leisurely atmosphere make La Kagu a must-see stop when visiting Tokyo. Grab a cup of coffee or one of their baked goods, and soak in its curated collection of products, clothing and books.
