MARGHERITA || Poltrona Frau Teams Up with Studio Fuksas for New Collection at Rome Convention Centre La Nuvola
Convention centres are often depicted as expansive spaces of modern architecture: sharp, clean lines, steel and concrete. However, a pop of colour would make these structures more welcoming.
A new collaborative collection between Studio Fuksas and Poltrona Frau Custom Interiors Business Unit further enriches Rome's Convention Centre "La Nuvola". After the seating project Carla, designed by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas in 2013 and used in the Auditorium of the Rome Convention Centre, The new Margherita collection of custom-made armchairs, seats, and stools will add vibrancy and whimsy to the Bookshop and Workshop areas.
Margherita- the Italian word for daisy- reveals the vivid energy that only nature can give.
The Margherita Collection.
Its design reminds us of coloured flowers that set indoor spaces free, transforming them into lively environments by bringing the outside in. Margherita armchairs, seats and stools have a curved shape like flower petals. They come in contrasting colour combinations, like a sunny spring afternoon.
With this explicit reference to nature, the Margherita collection fits perfectly in its natural habitat - La Nuvola Convention Centre - both for its aesthetic and conceptual values.
The colourful designs add vibrancy to the convention centre’s glass and steel structure.
In fact, with its 58.500 sq. m., the Rome Convention Centre combines an eco-friendly approach to design with state-of-the-art technological features. The design illustrates a passion for the environment and technology by intertwining these elements. For example, a geometric showcase contains an abstract element that embodies creativity's free expression. Just as nature has rigid rules complemented by beautiful, unexpected variations, like trees always grow towards the sky, their branches and roots may all display different patterns and shapes. Within the order, therein lies life's creative freedom of expression.
The flower-petal shapes contrast against the sharp, modern lines of the convention centre, inviting visitors to grab a seat to continue their conversations.
Margherita armchairs, seats and stools have a strong personality that allows them to live independently from one another. Their structure is very resistant and can be upholstered in leather or fabric. Colours and upholstering materials are also customizable according to the projects' requirements.
