WOODEN CABIN IN THE JIZERA MOUNTAINS || Embrace Nature's Tranquillity Surrounded by Meadows and Forests

Nestled in the stunning Jizera Mountains in the Czech Republic, architect Markéta Cajthamlová's latest project offers a serene living environment in nature.

The newly built cabin is located at the very edge of a mountain village, surrounded by meadows and forests, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.

One of the most striking features of the cabin is its seamless integration with the surrounding landscape. The architecture respects the natural surroundings and incorporates locally sourced materials such as wood, stone, and glass. The region is well-known for its high-quality glass, which was incorporated into the design with generous windows and a central skylight.

Expansive windows that are 10 and 12 meters wrap around the corners of the home. A skylight also draws in an abundance of natural light.

The cabin is divided into three parts, each with its own unique function. The living area is oriented towards the west and features a kitchen, dining room, and a cozy fireplace, perfect for relaxing on chilly evenings. The bedroom is located on the eastern side of the cabin and can sleep up to four people, making it ideal for families or small groups. The central part of the cabin houses a sauna and bathroom, with an attic accessible from the living room.

The bedroom features wraparound windows.

The sauna and bathroom are housed in the central part of the cabin.

The attic features a large skylight creating a zen space where one could meditate and bask in the warm sunshine.

The facade of the cabin is made of dark blue clapboard cladding, which blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The cabin's expansive windows are a stunning feature of the design, measuring 10 and 12 meters wide. All window components are white, including the wooden frames, shutters, and blinds. The result is a stunning contrast between the dark blue cladding and the bright white window frames.

The cabin is set into the terrain in such a way that it requires only minimal landscaping. The plinth of the cabin is made of visible light concrete, which provides a stable foundation for the structure. The parking area is made of granite perk and can accommodate up to four cars, making it perfect for families or groups of friends.

The cabin's walls, ceiling, and roof are made of CLT and SWP (solid wood panels), which provide excellent thermal insulation and a cozy interior. The internal dividing walls are also made of wood, which enhances the cabin's rustic feel. The floor is designed from gray cement screed, adding to the cabin's overall simplicity and natural feel. The outdoor terrace is made of larch planks, which enhances the cabin's natural aesthetic and provides a perfect space for outdoor relaxation.

Overall, Markéta Cajthamlová's architectural design provides a unique and inviting space, ideally suited for anyone looking for a tranquil living experience in nature. The cabin's use of locally sourced materials creates a harmonious connection between the structure and the surrounding landscape. The cottage is a testament to Cajthamlová's talent and sensitivity to the local context.
