Over 300 days of sunshine per year.
That’s what our driver told us as he drove us to our resort at a leisurely speed of 30 km/hr.
This is why the homes it is mandated to have our homes painted at least once per year to maintain the pristine white exterior, to shield from the heat and also to avoid yellowing of the walls.
It is true what you see in online photos, the beautiful, square white homes dotting the landscape and soft, gleaming water blending with the gentle blue skies. A light mist hung in the air in mid-October when we visited.
Mykonos is a truly relaxing island, where visitors spend their days sunbathing, wading in shallow pools while sipping on cocktails, and visit the central village where all the buses go at night to experience the city’s infamous nightlife scene.
This is Mykonos through the eyes of a traveler who brought her parents with her. It should thus not be a surprise that my photos are mostly daytime photos(!)
