MONTREUX || Surrounded by Nature's Grandeur

Montreux touts with its unparalleled natural beauty.

I can still recall the moment of visual impact: I was on the train looking outside the window when the breathtaking scenery of the Swiss lakeside town swept into view. No words could make sense of what I had felt in that moment as the majestic Alps and grandeur of Lake Geneva unfolded in front of my eyes. It was disbelief. It was awe. It was joy. It was everything. I only wished my loved ones could see what I was seeing!

Montreux’s enviable natural ambiance, as well as the timeless charm of its Belle Époque architecture, offer a picturesque escape from the stressors of daily life. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live and study in Montreux where I was treated (almost every day of my time there) with precious, stunning views of its surrounding mountains and lake. Just as seasons change, so do the landscapes of Montreux. It was nearing springtime during my stay there, right when the flowers had begun to bloom, so you will notice colourful traces of them in the photos below.

Some notable points of interest I enjoyed photographing were the Château de Chillon, Le Montreux Palace, Promenade Fleuri, and Freddy Mercury’s statue. For those wishing to see (and capture) a panoramic view of the town from up high, I would recommend taking the funicular at Territet station all the way up to Glion. The view there would simply blow your mind as it did mine.

I managed to capture the lake at dusk as I sat along the shore. One word: surreal.
