Nestled high on the Ještěd Ridge is the Rašovka Family House, featuring a contemporary interior and offering stunning wrap-around vistas of a Bohemian paradise.

Narrating the story of the house, the investors say, “It all started with the discovery of the last building plot in Rašovka seven years ago. We already knew the place and since we wanted to build as high as possible in the direction of Ještěd mountain, we did not hesitate at all.”.

The house is situated 600 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by massive fields of greenery, making it an idyllic space to stay—perfectly exemplifying the Czech Republic's tranquil lifestyle. Its structure in itself is unique; a closer look will reveal how.

The house's facade features extended Portuguese expanded cork and glass walls, giving it a unique appearance. Portugal is the world’s largest producer of cork, responsible for over 60% of all the cork in the world. The incorporation of this warm and natural material perfectly harmonizes with the lush green meadows on which it sits. The gable roof uses anthracite-coloured aluminum, creating a stunning contrast between light and dark hues for the house's exterior.

Towards the northern side, a road has been connected to the property, which allows a part of the house’s roof to be drive-on, so residents can park vehicles and enter the house from the door on the upper floor.

The residence’s vantage point from the top of the Ještěd ridge offers a panoramic view of the Bohemian paradise below. The prime position enjoys 360° views of lush greenery and vegetation as well as neighbouring houses at a distance. The skyline is a must-see as the sun dawns and sets; the orange-yellow sky bathes the living area in a blanket of warmth.

The home's interior design is pared-back, with minimal accessories and a contemporary style. The open floor plan has dark-hued kitchen cabinetry at one end, while a dining table and living area are adjacent on the opposite end. A red sofa provides comfortable seating while adding a pop of colour, and an area rug has been laid to delineate spaces in the open floor plan. Every element is oriented toward the view, and sliding doors open onto a plateau to let the homeowners get closer to nature.

Additionally, exposed concrete adds a rustic touch, while metallic elements add a touch of sophistication. The suspended fireplace is another element that makes this family home all the more unique.

The house is a sight to behold when the night approaches; the golden ambient lighting highlights the home's modern interior and makes it stand out.

A variety of functional spaces can also be found in the family house at Rašovka. A cozy nook has been created in a compact space upstairs, featuring a comfortable seat and cowhide rug. The floor lamp provides gentle illumination, with the window allowing natural light to enter (and offering stunning sky views) being a bonus; an ideal spot to curl up with a book.

The home also has a minimalist office space for days when work needs to be done. Outfitted with an Earl of wood desk, Adam wood shelf, chair, and AI wood table from Kartell, the elegant workspace is positioned next to a floor-to-ceiling window. Functional pieces sit atop the work desk to minimize distractions — a lamp and a table clock.

The open garden, glass walls, and austere interior are a few of the elements making the family house at Rašovka amongst the best of Czech housing. In fact, it has been awarded 3rd place in the housing construction category in the Karel Hubáček Competition Building of the Year (Liberec Region 2021).
