THE VICTOR || The Spoils of Sunday Menu is Your Perfect Holiday Treat

A visit to The Victor to enjoy the Spoils of Sunday menu will be the best holiday experience you can gift yourself this holiday season.

Located in the heart of Vancouver downtown and endowed with a spectacular and serene night view on the 6th floor of the Parq Vancouver resort. The elegant interior features seating comfortably arranged in the spacious dining room. Dimmed lighting sets the tone for an intimate dinner outing.

The Spoils of Sunday holiday set menu featured at The Victor offers a hearty and satisfying meal for two or four people. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and even more surprised when the team unveiled the price for the set menu, which is just $75 for two people. This price includes three appetizers, one main course, and a beautifully designed dessert to share — an unbelievable offer especially considering that dining out during the holidays is usually when one would expect inflated prices.

THE SPOILS OF SUNDAY

If you are looking to enjoy a great holiday feast, The Spoils of Sunday set menu is your optimal choice. As we step into the winter season, where evening sets in earlier and the wintry cold entices you to opt for comfort food, items like a creamy hot soup and a generous portion of premium grade steak will definitely hit the spot.

Coming into the restaurant fresh from the outdoor cold, the first thing on our minds was to savor tasty cocktails to warm ourselves up. The bartender treated us to a surprise with an off-menu cocktail named A35, and the Fountain of Youth, which is a creamy blend of ceremonial matcha, lavender syrup, Stolichnaya, and almond milk.

Once we had settled comfortably into our cozy booth and enjoyed the first sips from our cocktails, we were ready to begin our journey through the menu. As mentioned, the set menu includes three delicious appetizers, the first one being The Victor’s Cheese and Onion Bread with a fluffy inner and crispy top layer. The smooth whipped butter adds to the decadence of this first course.

After enjoying the warm and fluffy bread, it’s time for the flavourful Lobster and Crab Bisque. Creamy and aromatic, your mouth will water at the scent of the hot bisque. Pieces of lobster and crab blend into the creamy soup to offer additional texture. To further the flavor of this course, the bisque is served with gruyère toast for dipping.

A Caesar Salad with romaine and shaved brussels sprouts, pecorino cheese, crispy sumac-spiced chickpeas adds a fresh twist to the traditional salad, with the chickpeas and brussels sprouts adding crisp and crunch to each bite.

After the three appetizers, it is time for the main course, and we opted for an upgrade to the 28oz USDA Prime Porterhouse served with a trio of sauces: chimichurri, béarnaise, and peppercorn. The regular $75 set menu comes with a 24oz Canadian Prime Rib-Eye Roast. Both of these options come with a variety of side dishes, including Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, and crispy brussels sprouts.

Having just enjoyed three sizeable appetizers, we felt that the Porterhouse steak could have been enough to share for an additional person (hence why we mentioned we were pleasantly surprised by the portion size). The Porterhouse was tender and cooked medium rare to our liking and had just the optimal layer of fat on the outer edge.

For dessert, you can enjoy the perfect treat and final course of the evening — Crème Brûlée donuts topped with a light and fluffy cloud of maple cotton candy. Gold flecks adorn the top of the cotton candy cloud, and one must carefully sift through to find the treasures below.

Of course, we efficiently ate our path through to find the decadent donuts below. Upon picking up one of these treats, you will discover that the outer layer is crispy with a layer of torched sugar, and upon biting into these donuts, you will fall in love with the medley of crispy and creamy textures of the inner and outer layers. If you love the classic crème brûlée, you will undoubtedly want to savor every bite of this creative and beautiful dessert.
