TRAVEL SERIES || A Day in Montreal

Our vision is to take you on day trips to cities around the world. Featuring the best local hangouts so you can experience life like a local on your adventures. Join us for A Day In Montreal, a foodie heaven filled with hip cafes and eateries.

It’s a city full of bustling, hip cafes and great eats everywhere you go.

A mix of modern and historic architecture set against a backdrop of manicured outdoor parks makes it a great vacation destination.

We spent a day touring the various cafes to find the best options so you don’t have to wander aimlessly. Here are the hidden gems we stumbled upon.

One of the numerous parks in Old Montreal.

CAFE PISTA || Morning Catchup

500 Rue Beaubien E, Montréal

Mint-green exterior facade.

You won’t miss it. Its outdoor patio space reminds us of a colorful playground slide, and the exterior building face is a bright turquoise green on one side.

Great coffee paired with a delicious food menu, our favorite was there yogurt and granola with chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and fresh fruits.

The cafe sits on the corner of the building and has large windows drawing in natural light. Abstract art prints in color block tones dress up the white walls, and the ceiling is a rustic gold tone.

Greenery gives the space extra “instagrammable”, and guests are welcome to read the latest issues of a slow-lifestyle magazine such as Cereal magazine on the magazine rack. Read about our visit in this feature article to find out why you would want to spend your mornings here.

CAFE OSMO || Startup Fuel

51 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal

Housed in the Notman House, the cafe supports the many tech startups in the building, and is located in the lower basement level of the building. The cafe offers a breakfast and brunch menu along with delicious pastries made in-house. Dishes are complimented by the fresh herbs in their own garden. Stop by if you are in The Plateau neighbourhood!

LOV || Delightful Vegetarian

464 McGill St, Montreal

We rarely dine in vegetarian restaurants but when we do, there must be noteworthy. Let us say that the Apple Pancake with cashew chai cream is delicious. White wooden planks, hanging greenery, and potted plants together give the space a modern yet lived-in ambiance. The outdoor patio is a must on a summer day.

OLIVE ET GOURMANDO || Brunch and Pastries

351 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal

Be prepared for a lineup but it’s well worth it. Whether you are there to pick up some of their infamous pastries (like the new blueberry, oats and white chocolate cookie!) or wanting to sit down for brunch, this spot is bustling from the moment it opens its doors. No surprise there, given every food item on the menu seems to be highly-rated. Make sure you stop by to treat yourself to some healthy, delicious food options like their Chi-chi-chia bowl!

TOMMY || Heavy Traffic

200 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal

Ranked as one of the top cafes in Montreal, this spot is busy throughout the day, with lineups out the door and seating that spills out onto the front doorstep(!)
