HONBO || A Bright and Sunny Spot with Water Views to Enjoy a Tasty Burger in Hong Kong

What comes to mind when you think of a fast-food burger joint?

Usually dim, yellow lighting with hard, plastic seating doesn’t make for a very comfortable dining environment. That is the intention, to send guests on their way as quickly as possible to turn over more revenue.

Hon Bo, designed by JJ Acuna / Bespoke Studio in Hong Kong’s Harbour City Shopping Centre, takes a different approach. Not only is the dining room filled with natural light, it even has a water view. The clean white walls with perforated panels separate the seating booths, and simple pendant lights add to the welcoming atmosphere of the brightly lit space.

Comfortable seating with water views and soothing ambient lighting.

Those who live or have travelled to Hong Kong would know how busy the malls could get. As the 8th most densely populated city in the world, shopping malls in Hong Kong are packed with people during the summertime because of the humid heat and during the holiday season as shoppers head out to do their seasonal shopping. This is why an airy dining space like Hon Bo offers a much-needed refuge for tired shoppers to rest their feet.

Honbo is well-loved for its no-frills approach to classic burger goodness. Sans the excessive trimmings and fillers, the house's specialty highlights simplicity, natural cooking, and quality ingredients that capture the traditional taste of burgers.

With its newest outlet in Hong Kong’s Harbour City, Honbo brings back the nostalgic details of the 1920’s roadside fast-food joints in the United States. Unlike the typical hamburger joints that feature bold, bright colours, Honbo is characterized by clean lines and white space with distinct stainless-steel details—the perfect backdrop for the burger’s classic goodness.

The minimalist details and modern approach perfectly cater to the millennial Instagram-obsessed generation. We want to convey an airy but fun mood, with materials such as steel, glass, and white tiles, with a pop of colours such as Honbo’s signature blue and white.

The look is clean, contemporary, and family-friendly. Honbo’s fun approach combines timber elements with ceramic tiles and metal mesh topped with dominant white walls.

The new Honbo location features a contemporary, family-friendly design.

Offering a unique dining experience with its steel and metal nook or the shared table for big groups in the outdoor area, Honbo establishes an approachable environment for guests of all ages to enjoy a delicious meal.

“It creates a unique experience that makes people feel that they have arrived at a special moment, with a burger in hand, of course.” The Honbo Harbour City store will be the signature look of all soon-to-open Honbo restaurants worldwide.

The blue and white colour palette and steel and metal materiality will become the signature new look for additional Honbo restaurant outlets worldwide.
