MODERN TRIBECA HOME || Embrace the Panoramic Views of this Residence Overlooking the New York Skyline

The residence is a modern tree house created for a family of four.

Designer Jessica Gersten first met the client when she designed their home on the Upper East Side eight years ago. Jessica was thrilled to help them create their new dream home downtown.

The curved sofa establishes the living room area, furnished with contemporary chairs and a Noguchi lantern.

The muted colours of the living room furnishing lets the view take center stage.

The open living/dining space has two incredible north and west views overlooking the stunning New York cityscape. The living room niche in parchment was inspired by the de Noailles residence in Paris designed by Jean-Michel Frank in 1925. The curved sofa contours around coffee tables custom created by Jessica, also inspired by the work of Jean Michel-Frank.

The layout establishes the living room area, while the materiality of the furnishings complements the neutral colour palette. The consistent, soothing design allows the panoramic views to take center stage. Contemporary side chairs and tables along with a Noguchi lantern complete the seating area.

Ludovic Clement d’Armont mobile light designed the interior designer.

A Ludovic Clement d’Armont mobile light hangs over the oak dining table, designed by Jessica. The contour theme continues with the “wing” dining chairs from Studio Twenty-Seven. Also inspired by Jean Michel-Frank’s unconventional use of common materials, Jessica designed a sculptural plaster bar which separates the kitchen and dining room.

The perfect pairing of curves and fluid shapes in a calming colour and material palette.

The sofa in the bedroom is oriented toward window.

The master bedroom has an ethereal feeling. A headboard wall was another custom element by the interior designer, produced using Toyine Sellers fabric and pale oak panelling. The Webcoat table lamp is by Steven Haulenbeek and rests on a custom credenza also created by the designer. Art pieces on the opposite wall are by Estuko Ichikawa, curated with the help of Hourglass Advisory.

The oak and parchment materiality of the living room carries into the office with millwork and a console table, custom-made with a rug by Alt for Living. The art above the console is by Wura-Natasha Ogunji. In the foyer, a gouged wood credenza is a grounding point with Erin Schirreff art hanging above and ceramic sconces from The Invisible Collection. Finally, in the two children’s bedrooms are additional custom touches in the cozy bed designs.
